PRIMITIVE MATERIALS. CONSIDERED FORMS.
Sculpture in ceramic and stone. Ucluelet, British Columbia.
Working in clay and stone, Jennifer Bourne creates sculptural objects that feel unearthed rather than made. Rough, porous surfaces meet considered forms, drawing on the textures of rock, lava and weathered earth.

An Exploration of Material
Selected Work
A tall, hand-built sculpture in grogged clay, finished with a creamy, off-white lava glaze. Its porous surface recalls a cliff face worn by wind and sand. Two openings interrupt the soft, rising form, drawing the eye through the piece as well as around it.
